Sorry I took a week off! I was house sitting for my sister and brother-in-law and was without internet. Hope everyone is having a wonderful week thus far! So close to the weekend!!!!! This weeks craft is simple, stylish, cheap and the perfect gift! A few months ago I decided it was time to stop borrowing Ryan's paint supplies and get some things of my own. Hobby Lobby did me good:) I went a little over the top... lets face it, I'm not a legit artist... I just give it my best shot and use painting as a way to clear my head and jam out to some tunes. AnyHOO, I had this idea to paint some canvases for graduation gifts so that no matter where people's homes may be after college, they would always have a piece of art to remember the good ole' times (with me:)). We all know how trendy owls are right now not only because they are the Chi Omega mascot, but also because they are just cool. Needless to say it wasn't hard to find inspiration. So over the course of a couple months I painted about five different varieties of the paintings you see. Each one including an owl and some with a birdie as well. I realized how much I love turquoise, purple, and various shades of yellow. Before painting, I drew the design on each canvas so that I could visualize it all before I committed. Also, I decoupaged them all as a nice final touch. The process was such a blast and I'm still painting as much as possible!
For me, painting is something I can do when I need to stop my brain from running around like a crazy. You should try it! Paint something and whether it's a total success or a total fail, give it to someone you love! It's the thought that counts right?! Enjoy!
Lots of love -L
