Humpday Craftday

Well it has been a few weeks of legitimate crafting! While mom was in the Grand Cayman Islands my cousin Dennis (Dennis Ergle Interiors) and I worked non stop to finish "the boys room." This project was slightly difficult because I brought home furniture from college that needed a home in the new room. It was a money saver, but prevented us from starting with a clean pallet. It was a fun week! Busy and exhilarating! Most importantly, the family loves it! Hope Price David Walter will too:) He's just three months away from joining us!

After the walls were painted Aegean Teal I began working on the little playroom area. Mom kept all our beanie babies and stuffed animals which were the perfect soft toys for a little baby boy.

Next task... Paint the furniture. I literally rubbed the armoire with a hand towel dipped in black paint. It dried quickly and then I sanded it. This is a fun craft because I'm almost positive you can't mess it up.

Price's corner is my favorite part of the room. His crib is painted a deeper blue than the walls. It still needs a few more coats but I'll get around to that. Over his crib is a tree branch cut from a tree in my backyard. Dennis jumped up on a ladder and sawed it right off. I was the spotter:) Luckily I didn't have to catch him! While Dennis attached the branch to some chain and hung it from the ceiling I began working on the mobile. Found some twigs, tied them together, hung some owls I had laying around! I love it! Price's sleeping nook rocks. I hope he sleeps like a Schwak!

The red couch camp from my house in college as well as the blue ottoman. Dennis found all our cute new pillows at a store called Garden Ridge.

The black bed was something Dennis just had laying around so it found a home at the Schwak's! The Tiffany Lamp (mom taught me that terminology) hanging over the bed was a wedding gift for my mommy and daddy!!!! My mom's big sis is Kappa Delta gave it to them. Brilliant! It had to be rewired, but it turned out great!

Finally the beautiful cornice board. 100% Dennis. He built the sucker so fast. I was in awe and felt very incapable in the moment. The strength of a man... sigh. The chair and table under the window made the move from college with the couch. I used the same color from the crib on the table.

All in all, I think "the boy's room" developed in to the perfect spot for the Schwak/Walter family! I look forward to the many memories we will make in that room! Thank you Dennis! Love you!
