Humpday Craftday

OK, Lindsay here. Over the last year of college I have not only become infatuated with blogs, but also with the creative inspiration that they provide. So... now that I am an actual blogger, I want to share one craft a week and the story behind it. Every HUMPDAY, through a craft, you will learn a little more about my life and the people I love. Hopefully in return you will also be inspired to create!

The Random Red Door
Kelley, Heather and Katie are three of my Chi Omega sisters and dear friends. After living in Chi Omega with them for two years I moved down the street with my best man friend Ryan. It was a nice change from living with 100 gals, but it was also a huge bummer because I didn't get to see my ladies day in and day out. When I went over to visit their knew home on campus I was excited to find a blank door, which in my mind was viewed as a blank canvas anxious to be painted! This was the beginning of my inspiration. If I couldn't physically be in their home each day, I could at least create something that could be (which made me feel like I was kind of there)!

Antique and thrift stores have incredibly cheap nick-knacks. After seeing the door I immediately drove to the "Family Store" down the street. There, I found the yellow candle holder, purple candle and the little piece of art underneath the candle. Next, I headed over to good ole Hobby Lobby where I found the three key holders, a stencil for the turquoise design on the bottom and dowels for the picture frame. Finally, Home Depot provided the lovely red and turquoise paint.

After returning to the girls home I put on a bathing suit top, shorts and headed out to the girl's front yard with all my supplies. I knew the door needed to be all red because the living room where the door would live needed a pop of color. My blank slate turned in to a red door.... FYI: This is pretty much how I start off all my crafts. Choose a color and then go from there. It really focuses my ideas. What next? Pretty much just laid things out, moved them around and committed to what you see in the pictures above. It was a total blast and it lived in the girls living room for the year! Kelley, Heather, Katie: I miss you already and can't wait for a girls trip that I'm sure will occur VERY soon!
